WELCOME TO AIPM-USA

AFRICA INTERNATIONAL PRAYER AND MISSION MOVEMENT (AIPM USA)

WHO ARE WE?

Africa International Prayer and Mission Movement (AIPM USA), is a partner with the Ambaricho International Prayer and Mission Movement (AIPM) in Ethiopia, a dynamic grassroots movement of prayer and missions outreach centered in southern Ethiopia. AIPM USA is directed by a Board which functions under the ministry umbrella of Unreached Villages of Bandon, OR.

WHAT IS OUR MISSION?

AIPM USA’s mission is to encourage and support the Ethiopian Ambaricho Prayer and Mission Movement and other similar ministries.

WHAT IS THE AIPM ETHIOPIA MOVEMENT?

Ambaricho is the name of a 9200 feet high mountain near Durame in southern Ethiopia, at one time the center of pagan Satanic worship. In the 1930s, some North American missionaries brought the gospel to the animistic Kambatta people living there. War forced these missionaries to leave and persecution of new believers was severe. Nonetheless, the gospel spread and the church grew through the bold witness of committed Ethiopian Christians and evangelists. Under the Communist government that ruled Ethiopia from 1974-1990, the gospel was carried by these fearless evangelists many of whom were imprisoned and tortured. In prison they experienced the power of prayer and when freedom came, these prayer intercessors began to claim mountains like Ambaricho for the Lord. What formerly was a mountain dedicated to the worship of Satan was converted into a prayer mountain. Every year tens of thousands of Christians climb the mountain to participate in a day of prayer, worship and hearing reports from missionaries sent to unreached areas of Ethiopia and beyond.

The leader of this movement is a man named Desta Langena who has been used to start prayer movements in other countries including India where he served as a missionary from Ethiopia. What started as a prayer initiative with a small group of local Christians has now touched hundreds of thousands and is sponsoring almost 100 missionaries.

Today, missionaries supported by AIPM serve in unreached areas of Ethiopia and in India, Pakistan and South Sudan. By God’s grace, at latest count, over 5000 conversions have been recorded and almost 200 churches have been planted since the first AIPM supported missionary was sent in 2003. The first missionary named Tamiru was sent to a town known as the bastion of Islam in Nigeria. In the face of blatant persecution and threats, he has been able to plant a small church and continues to witness the miracle power of God on his life and church.

HOW AND WHY DOES AIPM USA SUPPORT THIS MOVEMENT?

In keeping with our mission, it is the purpose of AIPM USA to encourage and support the work of AIPM missionaries. We consider ourselves partners in the work with AIPM and the Ethiopian churches who send and provide support for their missionaries. Because national resources are limited, AIPM USA seeks to raise up to but not more than 50% of the support for some of these missionaries. The current amount needed to provide 50% of the salary for a single missionary is $50 per month and for a couple is $100 per month.

WHY DOES AIPM USA SUPPORT THIS MOVEMENT?

We see the AIPM movement as part of the master plan of God for the fulfillment of His Great Commission. In this generation, He is orchestrating a movement of missionaries from all nations to all nations, as His worldwide church partners together for world evangelization. The majority of the missionaries who are now playing major parts in this symphony are from non-Western, Majority World churches, including Africa, Latin America and Asia. The AIPM Ethiopian missionaries are a prime example and as we partner in this work of God it is our privilege to help encourage and resource them. This includes alerting the church in the USA how they can pray and give.
